Oral Benefits of Wine Consumption

Wine contains properties such as polyphenols that are beneficial to overall health, especially oral health. Polyphenols contain a vast amount of antioxidants which protect the body from harm caused by free radicals. However, recent work indicates polyphenols might also promote health by actively interacting with bacteria in the gut. The grapes in Wine produce polyphenols to ward off infection by harmful bacteria and other pathogens. When combined with the Streptococcus dentisani, which is believed to be an oral probiotic, the polyphenols were even better at fending off the pathogenic bacteria. Overall it is beneficial to consume wine one in a while to promote good oral health. Not too much though.... we don't want those pearly whites stained !
